The Avenue Gallery Artist Feature - Brian Street

Perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of working in the arts, is trying to translate the beauty and energy of a piece of artwork through photography. While two dimensional works such as paintings have their own concerns, it is three dimensional sculptures that present the most difficult challenge.

These beautiful wood turnings by Brian Street are no exception. The photos capture certain angles, but they really need to be viewed in person to experience their full spirit. These pieces are quiet, but have a strength about them that makes one think of the rustic pacific northwest. The woods that Street chose leave us wondering about its own story - how old it is, where is came from, and what that particular tree witnessed...
